About Bhompston Fly Fishers
Bhompston Fly Fishers is a syndicate on the River Frome, downstream of Lower Bockhampton in Thomas Hardy country, the valley quiet and out of the way. The water includes the Gardeners Beat, which adds three-quarters of a mile of fishing upstream of Bhompston Hatches to Lower Bockhampton Bridge, giving a good spread of pools, glides and riffles.
The fishing holds Brown Trout, Grayling, wild, some of them notably large. It is not easy water: takes have to be earned here, and a patient, careful approach counts for more than distance. Every fish is returned. The brown trout season runs from 1 April to 15 October, with grayling fishing following from 16 June through to 14 March.
This is a syndicate, not a day-ticket water. Rods are let two to a named day, on an annual subscription of £490 per rod.
