Listings policy
FishingBeats is an independent guide to fly fishing water in England: chalk streams mostly, but rivers, beats and fisheries of every kind. Listings work the way entries in a printed guidebook work. We choose what to include, we write the descriptions, and no fishery pays to appear or is required to approve what we say about it. Inclusion on FishingBeats does not mean the fishery is connected with us, endorses us, or has any relationship with FishingBeats beyond appearing in the guide.
Where the information comes from
Entries are compiled from publicly available sources, mainly the fishery's own website and those of the booking agents who sell access to it. The descriptions themselves are written by FishingBeats, not supplied by the fishery. We do not knowingly use anyone's photographs without permission. If an image of yours appears on the site without it, tell us and we will take it down straight away.
Bookings happen elsewhere
FishingBeats does not take bookings and does not handle payment. The "Book now" link on a listing goes straight to the fishery's or agent's own booking page. Always confirm prices, availability, access arrangements and rules directly with them before you book. We do our best to keep this information current, but the fishery's own site is the final word.
Mistakes get fixed
Prices change, seasons move, beats get re-let. If something on a listing is wrong or out of date, email hello@fishingbeats.com and we'll correct it, usually within a day or two. If in doubt about anything on the page, the fishery's own website is always the authority, not us.
If you own or manage the water
You're welcome to get in touch about your listing at any time. We can:
- Correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
- Hide a beat's exact location, showing only an approximate area or the river it's on, if you'd rather not publish the precise spot.
- Remove office phone numbers or email addresses from the page, so enquiries go through your own website instead.
- Put you in control of the listing so you can keep it right yourself. Start with how to get listed.
What we won't do
We won't take down a listing simply because a fishery would prefer not to appear, if the information in it is accurate. FishingBeats exists to describe the fishing that's actually available in England, not only the fishing whose owners have opted in. A guidebook that only covered water its owners agreed to include wouldn't be much of a guide, and neither would a road atlas that left out any street whose residents objected. We'll always correct errors, respect reasonable privacy requests, and hand a listing over to its owner to manage. What we won't do is stop describing water that exists, is open to anglers, and is described accurately.
If you're not sure where your situation falls, email hello@fishingbeats.com and we'll talk it through.
