About Clitheroe Anglers Association
Clitheroe Anglers Association, also called Clitheroe Angling Association, is a game fishing club formed in 1956 by eleven local businessmen and professionals. It says it is an exclusive club owned by its members, with about 50 members and a board of seven directors. Its main water is almost four miles of the River Ribble at Grindleton, strictly fly only, where most members fish for salmon and sea trout and there are some brown trout and a decent head of grayling. The club also has about a mile of the Lune at Kirkby Lonsdale, which is outside Lancashire and not listed here.
The club makes a yearly contribution to the Ribble Rivers Trust and its members are enrolled in the Ribble Fisheries Consultative Association, which gives them webcams showing the river height.
Membership is by waiting list. To be considered, apply to join the waiting list through the Membership Secretary, using the form on the club’s membership page or the email address hello@clitheroeanglers.co.uk. New members pay a joining fee of about twice the annual subscription, payable over two years. The club’s site does not give the subscription.
