Three different kinds of operator, and most visitors want the first. A fishery or estate owns the water and sells you a day on it. A club or syndicate holds water for its members, sometimes with day tickets alongside. A guide or agent sells days on water somebody else owns, and often comes with you.

Norfolk has very little fly water on FishingBeats, and most of it is stillwater. The River Nar is a spring-fed chalk stream about 15 miles long, running from near Tittleshall to the Great Ouse at King’s Lynn, with brown trout and a few sea trout, which are rare in East Anglia.
Narborough Fisheries is a 26-acre site in West Norfolk where Nar water runs through five lakes. Meadow Lake is the trout lake: fly only, barbless, bank fishing from platforms, brown trout. Unlimited catch and release is £28 for up to eight hours, and an evening ticket is £18. The other four lakes are coarse and carp water.
Norfolk and Suffolk Flyfishers’ Society runs East Tuddenham Lakes near Dereham, two spring-fed lakes of about six acres stocked mainly with rainbow trout. A day permit is £30 for non-members, for three fish on a single fly, with no catch and release. You can buy it at the lakes without booking, by cash or cheque.
It suits a day on a small trout lake.
Finding fly fishing near you in Norfolk
The map above plots Norfolk's beats and fisheries against the county boundary, so you can see roughly how far a stretch is rather than just its name on a list. Tap a marker for a quick read on price and species before you go further. If you're weighing this county against somewhere else, or want to see every day-ticket beat in the country at once, the full beat map covers all of them.
A day ticket is usually a half day or a full day on the water, so it's worth weighing the drive against how much fishing you'll actually get out of it. A longer trip makes more sense for a full day than for two or three hours in the afternoon.
For scale, the River Nar rises near Chalk springs near Tittleshall, Norfolk. Beats sit further downstream from there, not at the source itself. The map above is the more exact guide to which stretch is closest to you.
