About Colne Water Angling Club
Colne Water Angling Club is a fly fishing club in Colne, East Lancashire, founded in 1952. Its members fish three waters: Colne Water through the town, for wild brown trout, and two moorland reservoirs, Churn Clough near Pendle Hill and Laneshaw on Reedshaw Moss, both stocked. All the fishing is fly only. Colne Water is not stocked, catch and release is recommended on it, and it is closed in winter. The river is part of the Wild Trout Trust’s Trout in the Town project.
Membership costs £198 a year, with a concession rate of £145 for members of five years’ standing who have paid full subscriptions, and £95 for juniors aged 14 to 18. It includes two free guest tickets for the stillwaters, and children under 14 fish free with a full member. To join, email the club for an application form, return it by email or post, and you will receive your membership card and directions to the waters once the form is accepted and the fees are paid. Juniors under 17 must be accompanied by an adult member.
The club holds an open weekend each year for people who want to try fly fishing, with no tackle or experience needed.
