About Horwich and District Fly Fishing Club
Horwich and District Fly Fishing Club was formed in 1978 and has leased Upper Roddlesworth Reservoir since 1983. The reservoir is one of the Rivington chain, a 24 acre water at Abbey Village on the A675, about three miles from junction 3 of the M65. The club says it keeps membership to a level that avoids overcrowding.
Membership is limited and the club keeps a waiting list, so ask about joining. To go on the waiting list for 2027, ring or text the secretary or email the club. Full membership is £225 a year including administration costs, and junior membership (under 18) is £20. Members can fish all year, use the boats from April until the end of October, and park near the club lodge. The club also runs organised trips to other waters and social events.
Visitors can buy a day ticket online: £20 for an adult and £15 for a junior aged 15 to 18, with under 15s free with an adult day ticket holder (no fish to be killed). The fishery officer asks day ticket anglers to ring before booking for the latest update.
