About Lancashire Fly Fishing Association
The Lancashire Fly Fishing Association was originally the Accrington Angling Association and was established around 1909. It says it owns several substantial beats on the Lune and the Hodder, with leases on prime water on the Ribble and the Hodder, and fishes the fly only Dean Clough Reservoir. Fly fishing is the main method, although spinning is allowed in certain conditions on some of its waters. The fish are native brown trout and grayling, and salmon and sea trout.
The club is owned by its members and limits membership to 118, which it says keeps its waters very lightly fished. Annual subscriptions are pro rata on the calendar year. An experienced fly fisher who is thinking of joining can ask for a taster session on one of its waters. A member may take a junior aged 11 to 16 along, who fishes for £10 a season under the club’s rules. The application form gives the entry fee and subscription, and the club’s website does not print them.
To apply or ask about a taster day, email the secretary at the address on the club’s website.
