About Prince Albert Angling Society
The Prince Albert Angling Society was founded in 1954 and is based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. It says it is arguably the largest angling club in Europe, with well over 200 waters from the Scottish border to the River Wye. Most of them are coarse lakes, canals and rivers, but it also has game fishing: reservoirs, lakes and streams, salmon on larger rivers, and a number of stocked trout fisheries. The society’s public pages show only a few of its waters. Its Ribble and other Lancashire game waters are shown in the members’ waters guide, so they are not listed here.
In Lancashire, visitors can fish the Lune at Caton on a day ticket, listed separately. Adult membership is by waiting list, and the society says the wait can be two to three years. Membership is £150 a year plus a joining fee of £150, and nothing is paid until you are invited to join. Juniors under 16 pay £25 with no joining fee and no waiting list, and a non-angling adult membership costs £15. Members receive the printed waters guide, an online members’ area and a number of free visits each season to commercial trout fisheries.
