About the River Hindwell Brook
Hindwell Brook is a tributary of the River Lugg on the border between Powys and Herefordshire. It rises in the Radnor Forest and flows gently east to join the Lugg just below Presteigne, at about the point where the Lugg becomes a wholly English river.
It is a spring fed wild trout stream, so it keeps a good flow through the summer. The riverbed is mostly gravel, which makes for relatively easy wading, and it is best fished with a light rod.
The Wye and Usk Foundation’s Fishing Passport has two fly only, catch and release beats on the Hindwell, at Knill and at Coombe. Other stretches are held by their riverside owners.
Check the details for the stretch you plan to fish.
