About Birch Lake
Birch Lake is the lake at Duncton Mill Trout Fishery that anglers who are not members can fish. The fishery calls it its deepest and most sporting lake, and it is spring fed, in the South Downs National Park near Petworth. The fishery stocks rainbow, brown, tiger and sparctic char, hand reared on its own farm.
Non-members buy a quota ticket: £55 for 3 fish or £80 for 5 fish. A quota lasts six months and you can come back as often as you like until it is caught, between 8am and 6pm, with one other angler welcome to share it. You do not need to choose a date when you buy.
Fishing is catch and take only, with no returning of fish, and you fish with a single fly. Catches are weighed and logged at the check in kiosk, and fishing stops when your quota is reached. Members of the fishery, at £290 a year, fish Birch and the other three lakes from dawn to dusk.
