About River Lune, Aughton, Caton and Claughton
This is the membership water of Lancaster & District Angling Association on the River Lune: five miles of river in three named beats, Aughton, Caton and Claughton. The association’s public page does not say where each beat starts and ends, so this listing covers them together and the position shown is approximate.
The water holds salmon, sea trout and brown trout, and the association calls it the North West’s premier salmon fishery. Its seasons are 1 February to 31 October for salmon, 1 April to 30 September for migratory trout and 15 March to 30 September for non-migratory trout. All salmon caught must be returned alive. Spinning and worm fishing are only allowed when the river is above 1 ft 6 in on the Caton gauge, anglers worming for salmon must use circle hooks, and prawn and shrimp are banned.
You fish it as a member. Local membership costs £210 a year and associate membership £235, with a joining fee equal to a year’s membership, and applicants need a proposer and a seconder who are officers of an existing angling club. The association’s membership page has the form.
