Siblyback Lake is a 140 acre reservoir on Bodmin Moor, within the Cornwall National Landscape, near Liskeard. South West Lakes Trust stocks it regularly through the season with hard fighting rainbow trout, and it holds a large population of resident brown trout to around 4lb, which are catch and release only. The Trust calls out the beetle hatch in May and June for some excellent dry fly fishing, and names Montana, Cat’s Whisker, Siblyback Sizzler, beetles and diawl bach as its best flies.

Fishing is fly only, from the bank or a boat. Boats for up to two anglers can be hired for £17.50 a day and must be booked, and a safety induction video has to be watched before first use. Float tubing is available for £10 on top of a day or season permit, on the buddy system or with safety cover. The local club, Siblyback Fly Fishers Association, runs competitions, beginners’ days and social events from the fishery. The season runs from 28 February to 31 December.

There is a café, car park, toilets, showers and a children’s play area on site. Day, evening, half day and season tickets are sold online or by phone through South West Lakes Trust. Under 18s fish free with a paying adult.

Stocking and fish species
