About Pontarddulais and District Angling Association
Pontarddulais and District Angling Association was founded in 1946 and fishes the River Loughor and the River Teifi for salmon, sea trout (sewin) and wild brown trout. It promotes catch and release on all its waters. It has about five miles on the Loughor, from the tidal water around Pontarddulais up a quiet pastoral valley towards Ammanford, and it names five beats there: Tal-y-fan, the lowest, which high tides can reach, then Tal-y-cynllwyn, Ynys Llety and Ynys (the club calls Ynys the midpoint of its water), and Tyn-y-Cerrig, the highest, which borders Ammanford Angling Association. On the Teifi the club has one mile of the middle river just below Lampeter, lightly fished, with wild brown trout and salmon late in the season.
A day ticket is £15 and covers all the club’s waters for 24 hours from the time of purchase. The club sells it on its own site, and the Fishing Passport sells it for both rivers. On the Loughor the trout season is 3 March to 30 September and the sea trout and salmon season is 20 March to 17 October, and night fishing is allowed there. On the Teifi the seasons start on 1 April.
Membership is limited to 150 adults, not counting juniors, and once the limit is reached after 31 March a waiting list is kept. The annual subscription is due by 31 March. A new full member pays £75, which includes a £20 joining fee, and an existing member renews for £55. A new member aged 65 or over pays £40 including the joining fee, and renews for £20. Juniors, up to 16 on 1 January, pay £1 with no joining fee, and must fish with an adult. Members get the combination codes for the club’s locked car park gates. A Natural Resources Wales rod licence is needed.
