Double bank

Wiggaton is just over a mile of left bank on the River Ottery, with a long record of good brown trout fishing and, at times, good numbers of grayling. There is a good head of trout around the 10 inch mark, and the beat has produced 2lb fish in the past. It has several deep corner pools and fishy spots, and it usually benefits from a good mayfly hatch.

Like the other beats on the Ottery it is mostly tree lined with steep banks. Wading is recommended, with a wading staff. In recent years the beat has had habitat and angling improvement works, including tree work along the bank, better ways into the river and gravel cleaning, and the Passport hopes they have improved the fishing, particularly in the middle and top sections.

Fly only. Trout under 7 inches must be returned, no more than 2 trout may be kept per day, and all grayling are returned. A day costs 2 Fish Pass tokens, booked through the Westcountry Angling Passport.
