About Lloyd’s Flyfishing Society

Lloyd’s Flyfishing Society is for people connected to the London insurance market, and almost nobody else can join. Full membership needs a current or former link to Lloyd’s or the wider market, as an underwriting member, underwriter, broker, agent, or an employee of the Corporation of Lloyd’s, or as a service provider, an accountant, lawyer, banker or consultant, doing business with the market. A small number of associate memberships exist for others the society’s committee considers a genuine asset to it.

Founded in 1987, the society now runs to several hundred members and fishes chiefly the southern chalk streams, principally the Test and Itchen and their carriers. On the Test its members have had beats at Broadlands, Chilbolton, Fullerton, Houghton Lodge, Leckford, Mottisfont, Park Stream and Testwood; on the Itchen, a Lower beat and the Easton Carrier. The society also holds water on other rivers beyond the Test and Itchen, but those two are its principal chalk stream fishing.

Joining costs a one-off £40 fee, waived for anyone 35 or under, plus a £40 annual subscription due each January. There is no day-ticket or guest route in for the public; membership runs through the society’s own application form, open to anyone who meets the market connection above. Enquiries go through lloydsflyfishers.org.

FishingBeats is an independent guide with no affiliation to the fisheries we list. Listings are editorial and unpaid, and are not supplied or approved by the fishery. See our listings policy. Listing details are compiled by FishingBeats and may change or contain mistakes. Some services, such as tuition, ghillies, or accommodation, may only apply to certain packages and not to standard day tickets. Always confirm pricing, fishing details, and what is included directly with the beat before you book. Spotted something wrong? Email hello@fishingbeats.com and we will correct it.
