About Sussex Piscatorial Society
The Sussex Piscatorial Society fishes river and lake water spread across Hampshire, Kent and Sussex rather than one estate, including a beat on the River Itchen at Easton. It is a separate club from the older Piscatorial Society, which holds its own water on the Test, Itchen, Wylye and Hampshire Avon further west; the shared name is coincidence, not a connection. Founded in 1891, the Society describes itself as one of the oldest fishing societies in the world with a continuous history, and it runs two sections: a Trout Section covering trout, sea trout, salmon and grayling, and a separate Coarse Section for its lake fishing. Across both it states around twenty one miles of river and seventy one acres of lakes, a total that spans all its holdings, including the River Teise in Kent.
The venue pages sit behind a members’ login, so the open site does not set out which beats are stocked, what the rod limits are, or how the season runs on each water. What it does set out is the tone: low density, uncrowded fishing for anglers who value conservation, with catch and release part of the culture the Society describes for its trout water rather than day ticket volume. The Coarse Section runs a separate public day ticket arrangement at Burton Mill, which sits apart from the trout fishing described here.
Membership runs through separate application forms for the Trout Section and the Coarse Section, and the Society has not published its subscription prices, joining fee or waiting list length on its public pages. Anyone interested should apply through the relevant form on the Society’s website for current terms. Its registered address is in Sayers Common, near Hassocks in West Sussex.

Listing details are compiled by FishingBeats and may change or contain mistakes. Some services, such as tuition, ghillies, or accommodation, may only apply to certain packages and not to standard day tickets.
