Fishing methods
Fenteroon is 350 metres of right bank on the upper River Camel, a pretty small stream with a public footpath alongside it, which makes it easy to get to the various small pools and runs. Space is limited, so the Passport suggests a single fly or a light duo rig, with roll, bow and arrow and side casts to cover the water.
For such a small stream it has given some sizeable fish, and electrofishing and angler catch returns show a few trout over 12 inches. It is best fished after some rain, when the water has a touch of colour and pace to it.
Fly only, with barbless hooks, and all species are returned. Brown trout season runs from 1 May to 30 September. A day costs 2 Fish Pass tokens, booked through the Westcountry Angling Passport.
