Double bank

Meadow Lake is the trout lake at Narborough Fisheries in West Norfolk, fished fly only from the bank. It is the main trout water on a private 26 acre site with five lakes, the others being coarse lakes, and the fishery says chalk stream water from the River Nar runs through them. There are fishing platforms around the lake, so you can move about.

You pick a ticket by the number of fish you want to take. Two fish for £26 is a six hour ticket, three fish for £32 is eight hours, and four fish for £38 or five for £44 are all day. Each also lets you carry on catch and release for the same number of fish again, and unlimited catch and release can be added to any of them for £16. There is an unlimited catch and release ticket for £28, for up to eight hours until dusk or 9pm, and a four hour evening ticket from 5pm at £18. On a kill ticket you take your first fish up to the limit before you switch to catch and release.

Barbless hooks only and one rod per permit. All brown trout go back, and so do fish of 4.5 to 5lb. Report to the lodge on arrival and before you leave, and fill in the returns book. A current rod licence is needed.

Fishing rules for Meadow Lake

Fly fishing only with recognised flies, from the bank only, no wading. Barbless hooks only. One rod per permit and a current rod licence is needed. Catch and release rules: large nets, unhook fish in the water, carry fish in the net rather than holding them, kneel for photographs and keep the fish out of the water for as short a time as possible. Anyone under sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are allowed with the management’s permission, on a lead at all times.
