About Hawes and High Abbotside Angling Association

Hawes and High Abbotside Angling Association looks after about 15 miles of the River Ure and its becks at the top of Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The water holds wild brown trout and grayling, and the association says fly and bait fishing both suit it.

Permits are sold to visitors as well as locals, as evening, daily, weekly and season permits. You can buy through the association’s website with PayPal, on FishPal, or in person at the Hawes Caravan Club Site, the Hawes Community Office or the Dales Countryside Museum, which takes cash only. An Environment Agency rod licence is needed on top.

The association would rather fish are returned, and there is a catch return form on its website.
