Rainbow trout rarely breed in English rivers, so every rainbow on a chalk stream beat is a stocked fish, and that's no bad thing. They pull hard, rise freely, and can turn a slow day into a good one. Some beats sit alongside stillwater fisheries and stock through much of the year rather than sticking to the trout season. Good water if you want a fair chance of fish rather than a technical wild-fish puzzle.
