About Canterbury & District Angling Association, Fly Section
Canterbury & District Angling Association has managed fisheries in the Stour valley since 1928 and is mainly a coarse and carp association. This listing covers only its game fishing: the Fly Section water on the Great Stour above Fordwich Bridge, and the fly only Trout Pool at Fordwich. The association’s other waters are not listed here.
The association leases the Stour from Fordwich Bridge to Plucks Gutter from Fordwich United Charities. The river upstream of Fordwich Bridge is reserved for Fly Section members, and the association says you may have to join a waiting list for it. Downstream, as far as the old Bailey Bridge site, the river is open to all members for fly fishing from 3 April to the end of the season in October, and to coarse fishing as well from 1 July.
To join, register through Clubmate (the app, or a PC), or phone or visit the office if you have no email or smartphone. The association’s prices for 2026/27 are £184 for an adult two-rod subscription (£135 concessionary) with a £75 joining fee, and £50 for a junior with a £10 joining fee, and the first year is a probationary one. Its price page does not mention the Fly Section, so ask the office what applies before you apply. The office is on +44 1227 710830 and enquiries@cdaa.co.uk.
