Swinsty Reservoir sits beside Fewston behind the same dam wall in the Washburn Valley, run directly by Yorkshire Water, and is the only one of the fishery’s three reservoirs where spinning and coarse fishing are allowed alongside fly fishing. It covers a hundred and fifty three acres.

Trout fishing here follows the same rules as Fewston: only rainbow trout over ten inches may be kept, up to four fish on a day ticket or two on an evening ticket, wild brown trout must always be returned, and barbless hooks are required. A separate, cheaper coarse fishing day ticket is sold for Swinsty alone, with its own rules: no live bait, no ground baiting outside a feeder, knotless nets, and every fish returned.

The fishing office and ticket machine are at Swinsty Moor car park, where the only toilets on the fishery are also found. A stretch known as Swinsty lagoon is kept for disabled anglers and those fishing with them, with its own dedicated parking. Swinsty stays open at weekends through the winter alongside Fewston, when the two reservoirs are the only ones of the three still fishing.

Stocking and fish species

moderate stocking · The operator’s own stocking description names Fewston specifically; Swinsty’s trout fishing is sold under the same bag limit and size rules, and the county research lead names Swinsty as a stocked rainbow trout water alongside Fewston. Wild brown trout are present too and must always be returned.
