Double bank

Thruscross Reservoir lies further north in the Washburn Valley than its two sister waters, a wilder and more remote hundred and forty acre reservoir given over entirely to wild brown trout, every one of which must be returned. Fishing is limited to a handful of designated banks rather than the whole shoreline.

Fly fishing only is permitted, with barbless hooks required throughout, and fishing runs from 7.30am until an hour after dusk through the main season, 25 March to 30 November. Unlike Fewston and Swinsty, Thruscross does not open over the winter weekends.

The same tickets, bought by card from the machine at Swinsty Moor car park, cover fishing here as at the other two reservoirs, though with nothing to keep: this is a catch and return water throughout. No rainbow trout are stocked at Thruscross.
