Langford Lake is Wrackleford Estate’s stillwater, a short walk from the beats the estate fishes on the River Frome just north of Dorchester in Dorset. It is booked separately from the river, on an exclusive basis only, for two to four rods a day with no rod sharing, so whoever books the lake has it to themselves for the day.

The bank is mown right round, with four main fishing points, and the water is regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Unlike the river beats here, fish from the lake may be taken home rather than returned.

A day on Langford Lake suits a small group wanting a straightforward stillwater session without competing for space, and the estate’s self catering Fishing Lodge sits right beside it for anyone staying over. Lunch hampers, tackle hire and a guide, for half a day or a full one, can all be added when booking online. A day costs from £70 per rod.
