About Tarr Farm Inn

Tarr Farm Inn is an inn dating from the 1600s beside the historic Tarr Steps on the River Barle, in the middle of Exmoor National Park. It sells fly fishing on the Barle from April to the end of September, on both banks from the Clapper Bridge upstream to Hinds Pit. There are five named pools, and the runs between them fish around boulders of all sizes.

It is fly fishing only and every fish is returned. No treble hooks, and hooks should be barbless or have the barbs squeezed down. You need an Environment Agency rod licence, and the inn asks for a fishing record at the end of the day. Fishing is booked through the form on the inn’s fly fishing page, which also gives the prices.

The inn has nine rooms, so it makes a base for a few days on Exmoor, and it can also arrange fishing at other waters within easy reach, such as Great Bradley, about three miles away.
