About Tavistock Trout Fishery

Tavistock Trout Fishery sits on Parkwood Road, about a mile from Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, with its lakes fed from the River Tavy. The fishery has run since 1991 and stocks rainbow and brown trout alongside farmed tiger, golden and blue trout, all from one and a half pounds up to specimen weights. Full day, five hour and evening permits are sold by the fish, with a parent and child option and a beginner’s permit too, and the fishery is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, first light to dusk, through the year.

On site there is a tackle shop, an angler’s tearoom with complimentary tea and coffee, parking and toilets. Fly fishing tuition is available with a qualified instructor, and in summer a self service permit lets early risers start fishing before first light opens the office. There is also a separate children’s lake for float fishing, run in season.

The fishery also runs a collection of holiday cottages and apartments on the same site, and guests staying in them can fish every day of their holiday, even on days the fishery is otherwise closed. The newly renovated Trout ’n’ Tipple pub is a short walk away.
