Fish species

Anglers on the Tresillian River can target brown trout and sea trout. Brown trout dominate most beats here; grayling, sea trout, and salmon appear on certain rivers and seasons.

The Tresillian River is a tributary of the River Fal in Cornwall. It rises in the china clay country and is fed by springs between Summercourt and Mitchell. It runs south west through Ladock to Tresillian, where it passes under the A390 and opens straight into a tidal estuary. It passes St Clement and joins the Truro River at Malpas.

The upper river is small. The Westcountry Angling Passport has a beat at Tregeagle, just above the tide, which it describes as a narrow stream with a good head of brown trout and a run of sea trout from late April. It calls the fishing tight, with a lot of bankside growth, so short casts are the rule.
