Blagdon Lake lies at the foot of the Mendip Hills, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, near Blagdon village. It covers 440 acres with a seven mile perimeter, an average depth of about 14 feet and a deepest point of 38 feet near the dam. The River Yeo enters at the shallow top end. It is a fly fishing water, stocked with rainbow trout, with catch records going back to the early 1900s.

Both boat and bank fishing are sold here. There are twenty boats, which can go out with or without an engine, and they must be booked ahead. Life jackets must be worn and can be borrowed. Bank fishing runs along most of the seven mile shore, which is for permit holders only apart from a public footpath by Butcombe Bay. The fishing lodge below Blagdon village has an office and a small tackle shop.

A full ticket lets you take eight fish, a half day four, and a cheaper Sporting ticket two fish on barbless flies. An All Waters season ticket covers Blagdon, Chew and Barrow Tanks together.
