The Trout Lake at Press Manor Fishing Lakes is 5.5 acres of stillwater on Birkin Lane at Ashover in the Derbyshire Peak District, about five miles north of Matlock and six miles south of Chesterfield. It is stocked with rainbow and brown trout, mainly averaging over 2lb, and is fished mostly from the bank, with boats available for hire from March to December.

Full day and evening tickets are sold, each either catch and release or a two trout ticket. On a two trout ticket the first two fish are kept, then fishing carries on catch and release up to eighteen fish for the session. Fish over 3.5lb and every brown trout must be returned whatever ticket you are on. Hooks must be barbless or de-barbed, flies must be artificial with a maximum of three on a cast, and large lure patterns such as boobies, snakes and stingers are not allowed. Wading is not allowed anywhere on the lake, and life jackets must be worn for boat fishing or float tubing. Concessions are available for disabled anglers, anglers over 65 and under 16s.

A fishing lodge was built on the bank in 2015, with toilets and disabled friendly parking close by, and small items of flies and tackle can be had from the bailiff when the lodge is staffed. The lake is open from 8:30am on weekdays and 8am at weekends, both until dusk, with evening sessions based on the five hours before dusk. Tickets can be bought online for instant confirmation and a gate code, or on the bank when a bailiff is present.
