The River Burn flows through the heart of Swinton Estate. It rises on Masham Moor, runs down through Colsterdale past the villages of Healey and Fearby, and joins the River Ure just south of Masham. The estate has over six miles of double bank fishing on it, and calls it a truly wild fishing experience and a favoured beat of the Earl of Swinton.
The Burn is otherwise closed to the public. It is fished on guided days with the estate’s Northern Fishing Company, which runs guided days and courses led by Marina Gibson, a Fly Fishers International certified instructor and Level 2 coach. Booking is through the Northern Fishing Company link on the estate’s website.
