Wimbleball Lake is a 370 acre reservoir on Exmoor, within Wimbleball Fly Fishery, close to Brompton Regis. There are several arms and bays to fish, from the shallows of Bessoms Bay to the deeper water of Steart Bay by the dam, and the tree lined Upton Arm.

Rainbow trout are grown on at the fishery’s own trout farm on the River Exe and stocked into the lake, alongside a resident population of wild brown trout, which must always be returned. Fly fishing only is allowed, from the bank or from a boat.

Boats can be hired by the day: a rowing boat costs £20, or £15 for one angler, and a boat with an engine costs £30, or £20 for one angler. A wheely boat is also available for two anglers plus a companion. Boats need to be booked online by four in the afternoon the day before fishing.

Bank tickets can be bought online or from the self serve permit hut on site on the day of fishing, with no need to book ahead.
