About Bewl Water Trout Fishery
Bewl Water is an 800 acre reservoir on the Kent and Sussex border, near Lamberhurst, with a trout fishery that has been running since the reservoir opened in 1975. It is regularly stocked with rainbow trout, and anglers fish from the bank or from a fleet of 54 boats.
From the bank it is fly fishing only. From a boat any method is allowed, with a maximum of three anglers to a boat. The 2026 season runs from 18 March 2026 to 14 February 2027. Tickets can be booked in advance or bought at the fishery lodge on arrival, and the tackle shop opens at 8.15am most days. Rangers are on hand to help, and may carry out bag checks. There is one Wheelyboat, booked through the fishery.
Bank day tickets for 2026 are £27.50 for catch and release, £32.50 for two trout and £37.50 for eight trout. A fly fishing season ticket is £800. Tuition is available with qualified instructors. Bewl Water also sells pike, perch and kayak fishing, which this page does not cover.
