About Blakewell Fishery

Blakewell Fishery sits in a small valley at Muddiford, just outside Barnstaple in North Devon, fed by spring water off Exmoor. It has a single stocked trout lake, alongside two holiday cabins, a riverside campsite and Blakewell’s own smokehouse.

The lake is fly fishing only, stocked with rainbow and brown trout, and run as a keep fishery rather than catch and release. Day tickets are sold by the number of fish, from a two fish ticket up to a six fish ticket, with a junior ticket also available. Check the current price when you book, either online or on arrival at Blakewell.

Blakewell’s own trout, and its multi award winning smoked salmon and smoked trout, are sold from the little shop on site, where you can also stop for a Devon cream tea by the water. The two Scandinavian style cabins, Kingfisher and Mayfly, are open all year, and the riverside campsite runs from March to October.

The fishing is open all year, seven days a week, sunrise to sunset, except Christmas Day. Blakewell is a few minutes outside Barnstaple town centre, just off the B3230 towards Ilfracombe.
