Broad Oak Trout Lakes
A fishery offering bookable fly fishing. 1 beat available to book, from £35.
About Broad Oak Trout Lakes
Broad Oak Trout Lakes at Hanley Castle, between Malvern and Upton upon Severn, has two spring-fed lakes on a 16-acre site. Oak Tree Lake is three acres and Acorn Lake one acre, both up to 15 feet deep, and the owners dug them themselves so there are no hidden stumps or snags. Both are stocked with rainbow, blue, brown and tiger trout from Torre Trout Farms in Somerset.
Tickets are paid for at the house before fishing, cash only: two fish in four hours, three fish in six hours or four fish in eight hours. Rainbow and blue trout must be kept; brown and tiger trout must be returned without handling. Fly fishing only, single fly, barbless hooks to size 10. Tackle hire is available, and lessons can be arranged with Brian Jones.
The fishery is open Tuesday to Sunday and on Bank Holiday Mondays, 8am until dusk, and closed on Christmas Day. There are casting platforms around the lakes, a larger pontoon for less mobile anglers and a fishermen’s hut with tea and coffee. Two self-catering lodges and a shepherd’s hut are let on the same site.
