About Chatsworth Estate Fishery

The Chatsworth Estate Fishery is four miles of the River Derwent with both banks to fish, running from Baslow through Chatsworth Park to Rowsley.

You cannot buy a rod on its own here. The fishing is sold as a package to guests of the estate’s hotels and cottages, with a minimum stay of two nights. The package covers a one-day permit, an introduction and guidance from the resident riverkeeper, and a picnic lunch brought to the river. No more than three fishing tickets are sold for any one day, so it is worth booking early. You bring your own tackle, and you need your own rod licence.

Trout fishing runs from 1 April to 7 October and grayling from 1 July to 28 February. The estate names the end of May and June as the peak for mayfly. Bookings go through the estate’s reservations team.
