About Kilnsey Park Fly Fishery

Kilnsey Park Fly Fishery sits on the Kilnsey Park Estate in Upper Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, below Kilnsey Crag, just off the B6160 near Skipton. The fishery has been operating since 1978, and the estate itself goes back much further: monks farmed carp here from the 1200s, and the Roberts family, who took on Kilnsey in 1911, later developed the fishing lakes among the estate’s other attractions.

This listing covers the two fly fishing lakes, each about an acre and spring fed, which keeps them fishing well through both winter and summer. They are regularly stocked with rainbow, blue and brown trout from 2lb to well over 20lb, raised on the estate’s own trout farm. Day tickets run four or eight hours, each as catch and release or with a fish to take home, and a loyalty card knocks around twelve and a half per cent off the price for regulars.

Kilnsey Park is also a wider visitor estate, with a café and small shop by the lake and a separate, stocked family fishing pond for children and first timers. Free fish processing is offered after your session, with filleting available for a small charge.
