About Ladybower Fisheries

Ladybower Fisheries sits on Ladybower Reservoir at Bamford in the Derbyshire Peak District, a 504 acre reservoir with over 13 miles of bank, built in the Derwent Valley and opened in 1945. It stocks rainbow and blue trout alongside wild brown trout, with some fish running past 20 pounds.

You can fish from the bank, a float tube, a kayak, or one of the fishery’s own boats, and there is an accessible pontoon and casting platform built for disabled anglers, run with the British Disabled Angling Association. Day tickets are sold by catch and release or by a fish limit of two or four, with half day and full day options and concessions available, and season tickets covering seven days a week or Monday to Thursday only run from March to November. From 15 November to 27 February the fishery switches over to Peak Predator, boat only pike and perch fishing where every fish is returned. Derbyshire County Angling Club keeps a reserved daily boat quota here alongside the day ticket trade.

A well stocked tackle shop sits by the car park, and qualified coaches offer tuition for anglers of any level, including float tubing and disabled access sessions. The trout season opens in late February each year, so check the current dates before you book.
