About Mill Farm Trout Lakes

Mill Farm Trout Lakes sits on Southcross Lane at Worton, about five miles south of Devizes in Wiltshire, between the villages of Worton and Great Cheverell. Two lakes, Kingfisher and Swallow, cover around twelve acres between them, and the fishery has been run by the same family since 1986.

Kingfisher, the first lake, is stocked daily with trout from two pounds to double figures and fished catch and take home, floating line, single fly. Swallow, the lower lake, is catch and release only, floating or sinking line, single fly, and is included free with any Kingfisher ticket rather than sold on its own. Half day, full day and evening tickets are all sold by the number of fish, and season tickets run from four to twelve months. The fishery is open every day of the year except August, eight in the morning to five in the afternoon.

A tackle shop on site sells rods, lines and around sixty patterns of fly, along with rod and tackle hire, hot pies, hot and cold drinks and ice cream. There is a lakeside toilet with shelter, parking beside the lakes, and fly casting instruction can be arranged with Paddy Warke. Payment is by cash, cheque or BACS only, cards are not taken, and booking ahead is not usually needed though a phone call is welcome.
