Middle Bridge Lower is about 700 metres of meandering River Carey, a tributary of the upper Tamar. It runs mostly tree lined through lightly grazed pasture, and the Passport warns that getting along and into the river is fairly hard because of overgrowth, so side, roll and bow and arrow casts are needed.

There are several productive long glides and slower pools, plus a few blown out corner pools, and all of them hold wild brown trout and grayling. Brown trout are typically 3 to 10 inches, with some fish of 15 inches or more in the bigger pools, and grayling of 9 to 12 inches are common. Smaller sea trout arrive by August and will take a large dry fly or a heavy nymph, particularly after rain.

Fly only, with a rod rated 0 to 4 weight, 5 to 9 feet long. A day costs 3 Fish Pass tokens, booked through the Westcountry Angling Passport.
