Fishing methods
The Cad and Meavy beat is where the wood meets the moor, with the Meavy to the north and the Cad, the upper Plym, to the east. The association says it is best from late May and holds a few surprisingly large brown trout as well as some salmon and sea trout, with plenty to explore for the agile angler.
Its map shows the left bank of the Meavy and the right bank of the Cad, with named pools including Scout Hut Pool and Dewerstone Pool. Parking is at Cadover, at Shaugh Prior, or in a single vehicle layby.
Day tickets are bought online on the day you fish, cover every beat for 24 hours from 4am, and are at the moment sold for salmon at £20. Fishing on National Trust water is catch and release only.
