About Exe Valley Fly Fishing

Exe Valley Fly Fishing is a small trout fishery at Exebridge, near Dulverton in Somerset, built around two lakes, Anchor Lake and Lobbs Lake. Lobbs Lake opened in 1968, the idea of the late Ellen Maund, and Anchor Lake was added in the late 1980s. The same family has run it ever since, a short cast from the banks of the River Exe.

Anchor Lake is two acres of fly only water, fed by the River Barle, and holds rainbow trout averaging around three pounds with some bigger fish too. Lobbs Lake is half an acre, aimed at families with small children, stocked with smaller rainbows up to about two pounds, and both fly fishing and spinning are allowed there.

Every fish must be kept. There is no catch and release at either lake. Day tickets are bought by the fish, from two fish up to six, and season tickets run for six months from the date you buy them. Fishing is on a self-service basis from a hut on site, with a large car park, toilets and picnic benches. The fishery is open all year, seven days a week.

You will need a rod fishing licence to fish here. Children under thirteen do not.
