Willow Lake is the smaller of the two trout lakes at Avon Springs in Durrington, near Salisbury: about three acres of spring-fed water with two islands, right beside the Hampshire Avon. It is gin clear, and stocked with rainbow trout from around 2 lb up into double figures.

This is the lake for the dry fly and the nymph. It is floating line only, and there is good fly life to match: sedge, olives and mayfly all hatch here. The banks are flat and kept tidy, with fishing platforms and seats.

Tickets cover both lakes and go by the number of fish you take: £65 for a four-fish day, £55 for three fish on a half day, and £45 for two fish in the evening from 4pm. Book online through the Catch app, or ring the fishery.
