Fishing methods
This short beat runs from Castlestead weir down to the bridge at Glasshouses, and the whole of it is fly only. It is one of Nidderdale Angling Club’s day-ticket stretches.
There is no fishing from the west bank for the first length below the weir, none in Glasshouses Dam or the mill race beside it, and no way down to the river through the trout farm. At the Glasshouses end there is parking (display a parking pass), steps and a ladder down to the river, and the club’s fishing hut. Hooks must be barbless or de-barbed.
Adult tickets are £15 a day or £40 a week, and juniors under 16 pay £5 or £15. They are sold online or from Summerbridge Stores and the Spar on the High Street in Pateley Bridge, and every ticket also covers the club’s other day-ticket stretches and Scar House Reservoir. Everything goes back: the Nidd is catch and release.
