About Gainford Riverside Trust
Gainford Riverside Trust is a registered charity that sells permits for fishing the River Tees at Gainford, from St Mary’s Well below the churchyard upstream to Barforth Wath. Fishing is by permit only and is bought online, as either a day permit or an annual permit.
There are two kinds of permit. One covers coarse fish and trout, which includes grayling, and the other covers salmon and sea trout; you choose one or the other. Adult day permits are £8 for coarse fish and trout and £12.50 for salmon and sea trout. Adult annual permits are £35 and £50. Concessions are available for people over 65 and for ages 12 to 15, and children under 12 fish free but still need a zero cost permit.
Permits are bought from the trust’s shop. The date you choose at checkout is the only date a day permit covers. You need an Environment Agency rod licence.
