About Darlington Fly Fishers Club
Darlington Fly Fishers Club was formed in 1949, when members of Darlington Anglers’ Club secured fishing rights from local riparian owners, and it fishes by artificial fly only. It has four beats: two on the River Tees below Barnard Castle and two on the River Greta north of Greta Bridge. The club is deliberately small and describes its fishing as wild brown trout and grayling, with the possibility of migratory fish on the Tees.
Membership is traditionally limited to 40 rods. The annual subscription is £135, due by 31 January for existing members, and new members can join during the year when there is a vacancy. You can apply online or on the club’s paper form, or ask the club about vacancies first. A prospective member can have a complimentary trial day with a sponsoring member, and fully paid up members can bring a guest on a £5 guest day ticket. You need an Environment Agency rod licence and members complete a catch return.
