About Darlington Anglers Club
Darlington Anglers Club was founded in 1893 and has over 300 members. It holds about nine miles of the middle River Tees, from High Coniscliffe in the west down to where the River Skerne meets the Tees at Croft, east of Darlington, as well as the six acre Cleasby Lake. The club describes the Tees as known for brown trout, grayling, salmon and coarse fish. It is a mixed club, and this listing covers the river.
Since the committee’s decision the club fishes 100 percent catch and release on all of its Tees waters, with no fish killed or removed. New membership and renewals are taken through Clubmate. The 2027 fees are £80 for adults, £50 for ages 19 to 21 and for pensioners and Blue Badge holders, and £15 for ages 16 to 18, with free junior membership for relatives of members. The club’s rules say new applicants are recorded on a waiting list for when vacancies occur.
Day tickets are available for the river only and are booked on Clubmate. Visitors cannot fish Cleasby Lake or fish for salmon, and members who want to fish for salmon need a special permit from the secretary. You need an Environment Agency rod licence.
