About Caerphilly and District Angling Association
Caerphilly and District Angling Association has been providing fishing around Caerphilly for over 70 years, and its largest and most popular water is the moat of Caerphilly Castle. It also holds stretches of the River Rhymney, and this listing shows that river only.
The association describes the Rhymney as an intimate river with plenty of good sport for both fly and coarse anglers. It points to outstanding grayling fishing, with fish close to 3lb caught in recent seasons, as well as brown trout, chub and barbel, and says salmon numbers are increasing and turn up more often than you would expect. Its history page names stretches of the Rhymney at Llanbradach, Bedwas, Dreathen, Machen and Cefn Mabley.
Day tickets for the river are booked through the association’s Clubmate page, and it also sells a Rhymney only membership. All fishing on the Rhymney is catch and release, and spinning is only allowed during the trout and salmon season.
