About River Rhymney, Caerphilly
This is the River Rhymney water of Caerphilly and District Angling Association, in the Caerphilly area. The association describes the river as intimate, with plenty of good sport for fly and coarse anglers. It reports outstanding grayling fishing, with fish close to 3lb caught in recent seasons, brown trout, chub and barbel up to 9lb 12oz, and salmon turning up as accidental captures by coarse anglers more often than you would expect as numbers increase.
The association’s history page names its Rhymney stretches at Llanbradach, Bedwas, Dreathen, Machen and Cefn Mabley, but its river page does not say which of them the day ticket covers, and it sends maps of the banks that may be fished when you join. All fishing on the Rhymney is catch and release, and spinning is only allowed during the trout and salmon season.
You can book a day ticket on the association’s Clubmate page or take its Rhymney only membership. The website shows no prices. The position shown is approximate, in the Caerphilly area, and covers a wide radius because the stretch is not described.
