About Cross Hands and District Angling Association
Cross Hands and District Angling Association controls some 12 miles of salmon, sea trout (sewin) and trout fishing on the Towy, Cothi and Teifi, most of it on the Towy and Cothi. It was formed some 50 years ago by retired miners who used their redundancy money to buy and rent salmon fishing on the Towy, and is constituted to provide fishing at the cheapest possible rates.
On the Towy its waters stretch from the Abermarlais waters at Llangadog, towards the top of the system, down to the Pump House beat just off the tide below Capel Dewi. The old beat 5 of the Golden Grove fishery, the Glantowy lay-by beat and the Llwynfortune (Dai Boots) beat are its middle beats. On the Cothi there are four beats: Cresselly, Cwmcothi, Dyffryn Uchaf and Penrhiw Felin. It also has two stretches of the Gwendraeth Fach and two miles of single bank on the Teifi at Brynteifi, Pentrecwrt.
Day and week tickets are sold online and at outlets listed on its site, and cover any of its waters: its shop lists an adult day ticket at £20 and an adult week ticket at £50, with junior tickets at £5 and £15, and juniors must be accompanied by an adult. Annual membership has a strict waiting list for adults: £80 plus a £30 joining fee, or £40 plus £30 for students. Junior membership under 18 is £5 with no waiting list.
