About Llandeilo Angling Association
Llandeilo Angling Association (Cymdeithas Pysgota Llandeilo) manages or owns around nine miles of the River Towy, which it calls one of Europe’s premier sea trout rivers. The Towy is split into ten beats from Glanbrydan down to Llandeilo Bridge, with pools such as Baskets, the Car Pool, the Stone Pool and the Station Pool, and the association also has water on the Towy at Llangadog. It fishes for sea trout (sewin), with the occasional salmon, particularly in the autumn.
The association also has a stretch of the River Cothi, the Towy’s main tributary, in deep gorges and runs surrounded by trees and Brechfa Forest, and offers small stream brown trout fishing on two other tributaries, the Cennen and the Dulais. The season runs from 1 April to 17 October.
The waters are open to visitors and members. Its tickets page lists an adult day ticket at £25, valid for 24 hours from the time of purchase, and an adult weekly ticket at £75, valid for 7 days. Tickets are booked online through its Clubmate page, or bought in Llandeilo at Nice Price News on Rhosmaen Street for cash or cheque. Members join online each season. A rod licence is needed.
All salmon are released, as are all sea trout over 60 cm, all sea trout caught after 1 September, and no more than two sea trout may be kept in a 24 hour period, in one angling trip a day. Dogs are not allowed on the association’s waters.
